Belgium’s defense industry, long known for small arms and ammunition, is accelerating up the value chain by producing components for larger, high-end weapons and specialized systems that larger companies elsewhere might overlook.
One example has already earned the Belgian and Dutch navies as customers: Exail Robotics’ Seascan underwater drone, which can spot mines from 120 meters, even in muddy waters, and communicate with nearby ships to dispose of the explosives safely.
