Prevot stressed the need to censure Hezbollah’s initial attacks, noting their role in escalating conflict by involving Lebanon in a war it neither anticipated nor desired. Nevertheless, he described Israel’s counter-response as disproportionate and indiscriminate.
Seeking diplomatic recourse, Belgium advocates for a partial suspension of the EU’s Association Agreement with Israel, although Prevot admitted that a full suspension seems unattainable due to differing stances among European nations.
