Brussels delivered its regular report card on the state of the European economy today, urging countries to lower single market barriers and boost innovation.
Ten countries are deemed to be in the bloc’s excessive deficit procedure for breaching the EU’s fiscal rules, including economic behemoths France and Italy. There was good news for Malta, which exited the procedure, though Bulgaria, which joined the euro this year, is set to join the club of badly-behaving economies.
