One of the faces destined to wear the black and white has written a historic page in Belgian basketball. Rasheed Bello (in the photo) closed the experience with the Antwerp Giants, winning the title of Bnxt League and the prize of mvp of the finals. Born in Chicago in 2003, a 183cm point guard, Bello will land in Bologna, joining the Virtus with a multi-year deal. The official announcement is expected in a few days, but the youngster presents himself with top-notch credentials. Antwerp accomplished a veritable feat, overcoming Ostend and ending a 14-year reign. The last title the Flemish club missed was in 2011. A historic success built partly on Bello’s shoulders. The breakthrough came in the season’s closing act. With the Antwerp Giants backed into game four, the future Virtus player delivered a performance of 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists, nearly achieving a triple-double and displaying remarkable game vision. In the decisive game five, won 89-84 after overtime, Bello confirmed his maturity. He may be less impressive statistically, but he was decisive on defense and in the possessions that determined overtime.

For Virtus, this is an investment built well in advance and the result of careful scouting. At 23, Bello has already demonstrated his ability to handle the pressure of big games, combining leadership, athleticism, and playmaking ability. Qualities that make him one of the most exciting prospects in Europe. Bologna awaits him, ready to discover one of the most intriguing talents.
