Qatar Chamber Joins Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber Meetings, Elects New Leadership - News and Statistics

On June 29, the Qatar Chamber participated in the board and general assembly sessions of the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, which took place in Brussels, as reported by QNA.

Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidly, a board member of Qatar Chamber who also leads the Food Security and Environment Committee and the Technology and Innovation Committee, represented the organization at both gatherings. Also present were Dr. Khaled Hanafy, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers, and Qaisar Hijazin, Secretary General of the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce.

During the meetings, Philippe Dessoy was elected as Chairman of the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. A new Board of Directors was also chosen, which includes two Qatar Chamber representatives: Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidly and Rashed bin Nasser Al Kaabi. Additionally, Saadallah Zaiter was named Assistant Secretary General.

The discussions centered on improving the Chamber’s role as a connector between the Arab and European private sectors, along with its capacity to enable partnerships and create fresh opportunities for joint efforts between companies and investors from both regions. Another topic was upgrading the Chamber’s website into a comprehensive platform to encourage trade and build alliances between Arab and European nations, especially since Brussels, Belgium’s capital, is home to the European Union’s headquarters.

During the sessions, Al Obaidly spoke about Qatar’s investment climate and the prospects it offers, particularly in innovation and technology. He also urged the Belgian and Luxembourgish trade delegations attending the meetings to visit Qatar and closely examine the available investment opportunities. Al Obaidly commended the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce for its significant role in fostering cooperation between business communities in Arab countries and those in Belgium and Luxembourg, which helps boost mutual investments and enhance trade flows. He further noted the collaborative ties between Qatar’s private sector and its counterparts in Belgium and Luxembourg, as well as the mutual interest in advancing trade and investment relations further.
