External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will embark on a six-nation official visit from July 5 to 15, covering Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, New York and Brussels. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the first leg of the visit, from July 5 to 10, will take him to the four Gulf nations, where he will meet his counterparts and the leadership to strengthen bilateral ties and exchange views on regional developments and issues of mutual interest.

Visit Comes Amid Continuing West Asia Security Concerns

The visit comes against the backdrop of lingering tensions in West Asia after the recent Iran-Israel conflict and US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

While a ceasefire has eased immediate hostilities, tensions remain high, with concerns over regional stability, maritime security and energy supplies. India has consistently called for dialogue, restraint and a peaceful resolution to the conflict while remaining engaged with all stakeholders and safeguarding the interests of the Indian diaspora in the region.

India To Launch UNSC Campaign In New York

After concluding the Gulf leg of the tour, Jaishankar will travel to New York, where on July 13 he will launch India’s official campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2028-29 term.

Trade, Technology Talks In Brussels

The External Affairs Minister will conclude his tour in Brussels on July 14 and 15, where he will attend the third India-European Union Trade and Technology Council (TTC) meeting. During the visit, he is also scheduled to hold talks with his counterparts from the European Union and Belgium, with discussions expected to focus on advancing cooperation in trade, technology and strategic affairs.
