ANTWERP — The Antwerp Local Schools Board of Education was updated on the status of summer improvement projects at the school during its monthly meeting Thursday.
In his report, Superintendent Dr. Martin Miller reported that several projects have been completed or are nearly complete, including the construction of the new 11-bay bus garage and annual repairs and sealing of the asphalt parking lots, drives and playground as well as gymnasium floors and stage area.
Construction is nearing completion on an entrance into the elementary office area.
The new entrance will enhance safety measures with respect to monitoring and regulating visitors, plus will help to accommodate future additional students and visitors expected due to new housing construction in the school district, according to a meeting summary from the school.
Miller also shared with the board details of his professional learning tour with the EF organization on July 7-15. He was part of a delegation of 29 educators from across the country who participated in the nine-day trip to Peru to view and interact in service models within the educational, vocational, and cultural aspects of the Peruvian society.
The group visited Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley and cathedrals in Cusco.
