Feyenoord do not look likely to offload Ivan Ivanusec this summer, club watcher Mikos Gouka reports in the AD Voetbalpodcast. The Croatian forward is on a big salary and refuses to compromise.
Feyenoord signed Ivanusec from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2023 for €8 million. He has never really come good in Rotterdam.
With a contract at De Kuip until mid-2028, the left winger does not have to leave despite interest from clubs.
Royal Antwerp recently approached Feyenoord, according to Gouka. As soon as they heard Ivanusec’s wage demands, they stopped negotiations immediately.
“Ivanusec then says: ‘if I’m going to earn less, then I’m not leaving.’ Feyenoord then think: we can pay him that salary, but we also want to make some money from him,” Gouka said.
As for a return to the Feyenoord squad, Gouka says that is really not on the cards. “I sometimes read people saying: try Ivanušec on the left wing, because it cannot get any worse. Those people do not see what kind of form he is currently in.”
Even so, a summer exit from Rotterdam has not been ruled out completely. “Maybe the player will get nervous towards the end of the window and still be willing to compromise.”
