The PFL announced Thursday that veteran kickboxer Joe Schilling will face Donegi Abena at PFL Brussels on May 23, marking his first MMA bout since 2019. The light heavyweight matchup at ING Arena in Belgium features Joe Schilling (4-6) and Abena, who is making his professional MMA debut. Abena, a former Glory light heavyweight champion, meets Schilling at PFL Brussels after transitioning from kickboxing. Schilling last appeared at Bellator 229, where Tony Johnson knocked him out with a single punch, and subsequent licensing issues curtailed his run. The Brussels card also lists Benson Henderson vs. Patrick Habirora at welterweight and Taylor Lapilus vs. Jake Hadley at bantamweight.
