CHICAGO (WGN) — Mexico vs. Belgium’s international friendly is set to take place in Chicago on Tuesday night, with fans eager to witness a different kind of futbol at Soldier Field.

Local teens were gifted a meet-and-greet with retired Mexican soccer superstar Miguel Layun, who told WGN-TV he was honored to do so.

“I’m very excited to be there with the kids,” he said.

But the awesomeness was put into play 24 hours earlier. It was Douglass Park, with soccer practice underway, that young Chicagoans dreamt of the glory that comes with being a soccer star, but being a scholar is also a massive goal. So, in what could very well be the best surprise of their lives, right up there with birthdays and holidays, the teens chosen each received a new laptop courtesy of AT&T.

It’s all part of a bigger plan by the telecommunications company to bridge the digital divide.

And that’s not all.

The teens, who play for Street Soccer USA, are all going to watch the Mexico versus Belgium friendly at Soldier Field, all thanks to AT&T.
