Princess Delphine of Belgium is doubling down on her National Day celebration look. On July 21, she caused a stir as she stepped out in Brussels with the rest of the Belgian royal family.
Delphine’s sleeveless Bert De Coninck minidress featured a knee-length skirt in the front and a tiered mini at the back. Its sculptural heart-shaped neckline plunged into a button-up silhouette. The princess accessorized with a matching hot pink fascinator covered in tiny bows, as well as a pair of white elbow-length fingerless gloves. She completed her look with platform Mary Janes.

The 58-year-old royal was accompanied by her husband, American businessman James O’Hare.
Following online backlash over her fuchsia ensemble, Delphine had a pointed response for critics. “Pink is simply my color,” she told the Belgian outlet HLN. “It exudes joy, pleasure and light. It’s festive—the complete opposite of black.”

Delphine also clapped back at those who said her skirt was too short. “It’s not even short enough yet,” she said. “Now is the time to wear it. In a few years, it might not be possible anymore, when everything starts to sag.”
The princess denied that she was trying to “steal” the spotlight during an important holiday. “My goal is absolutely not to attract all the attention to myself or to steal it from someone else. Besides, everyone attracts attention in their own way,” she said.

“King Philippe, for example, has four beautiful children,” she said of her half-brother and his kids. “They stand out because they are truly stunning.”
Delphine is the daughter of Belgium’s King Albert II. The monarch, who abdicated the throne in 2013, officially recognized her as a member of the royal family following a lengthy legal battle, which ended in 2020 after a DNA test proved Delphine was Albert’s biological daughter, according to People.
