formally protest against what has been described as increasingly extreme actions by the Israeli regime.

Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said between six and eight lawmakers from various parties are expected to take part in the diplomatic mission, Berita Harian reported.

“Their presence at the international level is intended to convey the firm stance of Malaysians in rejecting any form of human rights violations.

“The main purpose of participating in the convention in Brussels is to discuss and condemn the Israeli parliament’s decision to impose the death penalty by hanging on Palestinian detainees, without the possibility of appeal,” he was quoted as saying.

Malaysia had earlier strongly condemned a new law passed by Israel imposing mandatory death sentences on Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

In a statement on Friday, the foreign ministry said the law is clearly discriminatory against Palestinians and completely removes judicial discretion.

Amirudin described the law as an inhumane form of oppression that violates universal principles of justice.

“Malaysia views this move as a very worrying development that requires a collective response from the international community to stop such provocation,” he said.

Amirudin, who is also a PKR vice-president, said two MPs from the party have been named for the delegation – Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, who is also deputy natural resources and environmental sustainability minister, and Balik Pulau MP Bakhtiar Wan Chik.

“Their presence in Brussels is expected to further strengthen Malaysia’s parliamentary diplomacy in championing the plight of Palestinians who continue to face pressure from discriminatory laws,” he said, according to the Malay daily.

Amirudin added that the government is awaiting confirmation of representatives from other parties, including Umno and PAS, to complete the delegation.

He stressed that all parties should set aside ideological differences to present a united voice on humanitarian issues and Palestine.

“This cross-party cooperation reflects the unwavering solidarity of Malaysians in opposing any form of ethnic cleansing and oppression beyond our borders,” he said.

Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said lawmakers from various parties are expected to take part in the
