{"id":13796,"date":"2026-05-01T12:25:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T12:25:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/13796\/"},"modified":"2026-05-01T12:25:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T12:25:09","slug":"esms-retail-wrap-coop-sweden-lidl-belgium-cactus-salling-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/13796\/","title":{"rendered":"ESM&#8217;s Retail Wrap: Coop Sweden, Lidl Belgium, Cactus, Salling Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmmagazine.com\/tag\/coop-sweden\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Coop Sweden<\/a> is expanding its partnership with food company Scan Sweden to boost its Swedish-farmed pork products offering.<\/p>\n<p>The retailer will <a href=\"https:\/\/pressrum.coop.se\/coop-och-scan-sverige-fordjupar-samarbetet-starker-svenskt-flaskkott\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">implement<\/a> a new and uniform display signage across all stores as it seeks to drive growth in Coop&#8217;s meat departments by allowing customers to make informed choices.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative will also involve a shift from traditional trough packaging to more sustainable vacuum packaging, the retailer added.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmmagazine.com\/tag\/scan-sweden\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scan Sweden<\/a>\u00a0will increase its in-store presence to focus on sales-driving activities.<\/p>\n<p>Maria Dundeberg, commercial director at Scan Sweden, added, \u201cScan is a brand that enjoys a high level of trust among consumers, and we are very confident that this partnership and our increased presence will help boost sales in Coop\u2019s meat category.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lidl Belgium To Cease Tobacco Sales<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmmagazine.com\/tag\/lidl-belgium\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lidl Belgium<\/a> has <a href=\"https:\/\/lidl.prezly.com\/lidl-belgie-handhaaft-besluit-geen-verkoop-van-tabak-meer-in-de-toekomst\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reaffirmed<\/a> its commitment to permanently stop selling tobacco products in its stores.<\/p>\n<p>The retailer added that this decision will remain in force even if future regulatory changes permit sales again.<\/p>\n<p>Lidl said that its decision is a long-term strategic choice aimed at promoting a smoke-free generation and a healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Lidl spokesperson Isabelle Colbrandt explained, \u201cWe want to be a reliable partner in promoting a healthy lifestyle. That is why we have decided that, regardless of future political decisions regarding a ban, we will not return to the sale of tobacco products.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Belgian trade federation Comeos is advocating for a ban on tobacco and vaping products for future generations, aiming for a tobacco-free society.<\/p>\n<p>The federation believes this approach demonstrates retailers&#8217; commitment to social responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>Silent Hours In Cactus Stores<\/p>\n<p>Luxembourg-based retailer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmmagazine.com\/tag\/cactus\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cactus<\/a> has implemented silent hours in four of its stores.<\/p>\n<p>During the designated hours, participating stores dim their lighting, stop music, and turn off screens.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative is part of the national silent hours initiative, led by the Ministry of Family Affairs, Integration and the Greater Region in collaboration with the Luxembourg Confederation.
