Hotels accounted for 52.8% of these stays, followed by holiday centres and villages at 14.8%, and holiday homes and apartments at 13.3%.<\/p>\n<p>The total number of overnight stays rose by 2.8% compared to February 2025, when 2,397,461 stays were registered. Regional breakdowns show the Flemish Region had 1,515,646 overnight stays, an increase of 4.8% year-on-year. The Walloon Region recorded 468,221 overnight stays, a 7.9% rise. In contrast, the Brussels-Capital Region posted 481,503 overnight stays, a decrease of 6.8% compared to the same month in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Statbel noted that when interpreting monthly comparisons across consecutive years, differences in holidays, school breaks, and weekends between the two months should be taken into account. Additionally, since the 2022-2023 school year, the reform of school rhythms in the Federation Wallonia-Brussels has meant that French-speaking education holidays no longer necessarily align with those in Dutch-speaking education.<\/p>\n<p>The figures encompass both leisure trips and stays related to congresses, seminars, conferences, and other professional purposes. The survey measures the volume of domestic and inbound tourism, with arrivals defined as any person staying at least one night in a collective accommodation establishment, and overnight stays counted for each night a guest spends or is registered.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t1.
