{"id":19710,"date":"2026-06-08T10:48:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T10:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/19710\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T10:48:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T10:48:14","slug":"brazil-belgium-green-shipping-corridor-powers-consortiums-e-fuel-uptick-agenda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/19710\/","title":{"rendered":"Brazil-Belgium green shipping corridor powers consortium\u2019s e-fuel uptick agenda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new consortium, facilitated by the Global Maritime Forum and RMI, is set on bringing to life a green shipping corridor between the Port of A\u00e7u in Brazil and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium to advance e-fuel production and transport. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"922\" height=\"383\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1780915694_635_Getting-to-Zero-Coalition-develops-action-plan-to-advance-maritime-decarbonisation.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-572893\"  \/>Illustration; Courtesy of Global Maritime Forum<\/p>\n<p>The consortium, which includes HIF Global, Fuella, NYK Line, H\u00f6egh Autoliners, and Wallenius Wilhelmsen, along with the port teams on both ends of the corridor, will assess infrastructure, vessels, and business models to create a roadmap for transporting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/e-fuels-hold-the-key-to-shippings-2040-goals-but-not-without-push\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">zero-carbon fuels<\/a>\u00a0produced in A\u00e7u, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/methanol-and-ammonia-shipping-fuels-are-becoming-a-reality-new-report-shows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">e-ammonia or e-methanol<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The transport is expected to be powered by the same zero- or near-zero-emission fuels. This new consortium builds on a pre-feasibility study developed by RMI and the Global Maritime Forum in November 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The study highlighted the competitive projected costs of e-fuel produced in A\u00e7u, due to Brazilian policies supportive of green hydrogen production, the country\u2019s largely renewable electricity grid, its abundance of renewable energy sources, and a relatively low cost of capital.<\/p>\n<p>A 2024 report from the same two organisations, Oceans of Opportunity, identified the Port of A\u00e7u as a high-potential e-fuel export hub. The Global Maritime Forum and RMI intend to continue to facilitate the realisation of the A\u00e7u-Antwerp <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/new-report-unveils-strategies-for-ports-to-become-first-movers-in-providing-green-methanol-ammonia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">green corridor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To this end, work is already moving at a pace to progress beyond pre-feasibility and develop a feasibility analysis for the corridor.
