The American national team has already secured first place in Group D and booked its place in the knockout rounds. Iran, meanwhile, has recovered well from the disappointment of its opening 2\u20132 draw against New Zealand. By taking a point from heavily favoured Belgium, Team Melli has placed itself in a strong position heading into the decisive final matchday next week.<\/p>\n
SoFi Stadium witnessed a goalless but far from uneventful encounter between Belgium and Iran, with both sides creating opportunities to decide the outcome but failing to convert them. The Red Devils even finished the match with ten men after Nathan Ngoy was shown a straight red card for bringing down Mehdi Taremi as the Iranian forward raced through on goal in the 67th minute.<\/p>\n
With the draw, Iran moved into first place in the group, which\u2014although Egypt and New Zealand are yet to play their second-round fixture\u2014already represents the biggest surprise of Group G.
