{"id":27458,"date":"2026-07-08T21:17:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T21:17:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/27458\/"},"modified":"2026-07-08T21:17:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T21:17:09","slug":"us-belgium-sets-record-30m-viewers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/27458\/","title":{"rendered":"US-Belgium Sets Record 30M Viewers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n                                    U.S. Men&#8217;s National Team on the field during match with Belgium on Monday | Image by U.S. Soccer.com                                <\/p>\n<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"81\" data-end=\"279\">The United States\u2019 Round of 16 World Cup match against Belgium became the most-watched soccer telecast in U.S. history, according to preliminary ratings.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"281\" data-end=\"520\">Fox said 30 million viewers watched Monday night\u2019s match in Seattle, where Belgium <a href=\"https:\/\/dallasexpress.com\/sports\/world-cup-2026-belgium-sends-usa-packing-with-4-1-victory\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">defeated<\/a> the U.S. Men\u2019s National Team 4-1 to advance to the quarterfinals and eliminate the final remaining co-host nation from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"522\" data-end=\"623\">Viewership peaked at more than 36.8 million viewers between 9:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Eastern Time.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"625\" data-end=\"814\">The audience surpassed the previous record set only days earlier, when 26.4 million viewers watched the United States defeat Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32, according to Fox.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"816\" data-end=\"1005\">That game had already eclipsed the previous record established during the Americans\u2019 group-stage victory over Paraguay, which drew more than 18 million viewers across Fox, FS1, and Tubi.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1051\" data-end=\"1191\">Fox said television audiences have continued to grow throughout the tournament, fueled in part by the U.S. team\u2019s run to the knockout stage.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1193\" data-end=\"1434\">According to the network, English-language U.S. television audiences for the 72 group-stage matches increased 92% compared with the 2022 FIFA World Cup, making it the highest average English-language group-stage audience in U.S. history.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1436\" data-end=\"1492\">Fox also announced another television milestone on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1494\" data-end=\"1728\">The Portugal-Croatia Round of 32 match <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/article\/sports\/soccer\/world-cup\/us-belgium-world-cup-most-watched-soccer-telecast-record\/507-b5d9cefd-7897-4abd-b4ed-5f4e174c6ab0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">drew<\/a> 11.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched English-language World Cup broadcast in U.S. history for a match not involving the U.S. national team, excluding the World Cup final. That match peaked at more than 16 million viewers during its closing minutes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1835\" data-end=\"2010\">Belgium\u2019s victory over the United States completed the elimination of all three tournament co-hosts. Canada was eliminated by Morocco, while Mexico was knocked out by England.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2012\" data-end=\"2123\">The remaining quarterfinalists are France, Morocco, Spain, Belgium, Norway, England, Argentina, and Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2125\" data-end=\"2318\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The 2026 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox4news.com\/news\/us-belgium-was-most-watched-soccer-telecast-is-us-history\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">scheduled<\/a> to be played from Thursday through Sunday.
