WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) \u2013 A 35-year-old Antwerp man is facing drug, weapon and attempted robbery charges after a traffic stop in the City of Watertown.<\/p>\n

The Watertown Police Department arrested John Forney and charged him with attempted robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.<\/p>\n

Authorities stopped Forney around 3:20 a.m. after they detected a speeding vehicle on Huntington Street.<\/p>\n

According to police, the driver was seen allegedly throwing a container out the window. Police stated that methamphetamine\u00a0was allegedly found in the continer.<\/p>\n

The driver, John Forney, was stopped on North Michigan Avenue. During the subsequent search, city police allegedly found four grams of fentanyl and a wrist-brace style slingshot.<\/p>\n

Forney was also wanted in connection with an attempted robbery that happened on February 1 on LeRay Street. He was allegedly armed with a club and attempted to steal a wallet while an accomplice struck the other person with a folding knife.<\/p>\n

A passenger, 35-year-old Holly Forney of Antwerp, was also charged with drug and weapon possession. Holly Forney is the sister-in-law of John.<\/p>\n

She was released while John Forney is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bail.<\/p>\n
