{"id":289,"date":"2026-02-09T01:18:26","date_gmt":"2026-02-09T01:18:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/289\/"},"modified":"2026-02-09T01:18:26","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T01:18:26","slug":"second-baby-in-belgium-sickened-by-recalled-nestle-product","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/289\/","title":{"rendered":"Second baby in Belgium sickened by recalled Nestl\u00e9 product"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday, the Flemish Government&#8217;s Department of Care announced that a second baby in Flanders has been infected with cereulide.<\/p>\n<p>In early January, the first baby fell ill in the north of the country after consuming one of Nestl\u00e9&#8217;s infant formula products, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.az\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">News.Az<\/a> reports, citing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brusselstimes.com\/1950899\/second-belgian-baby-falls-ill-due-to-recalled-nestle-product\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">foreign media.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The company issued a global recall of certain<a href=\"https:\/\/news.az\/news\/belgium-investigates-babies-potentially-sickened-by-nestl-formula\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> baby formula products<\/a>, amid concerns that they contain a toxin which can cause food poisoning.<\/p>\n<p>Austria\u2019s Federal Ministry of Health, shared by the NGO Foodwatch in Austria and France, stated that over 800 products were recalled.<\/p>\n<p>The second baby, aged a few months, fell ill in mid-January. Shortly before the onset of symptoms, he had also consumed a product that had been recalled.
