{"id":33864,"date":"2026-08-21T13:31:06","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T13:31:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/33864\/"},"modified":"2026-08-21T13:31:06","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T13:31:06","slug":"barcelona-summer-signing-chooses-belgium-over-ghana-after-senior-call-up-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/33864\/","title":{"rendered":"Barcelona summer signing chooses Belgium over Ghana after senior call-up plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barcelona wonderkid Jesse Bisiwu has found himself at the centre of an international battle, with Ghana attempting to convince the young winger to switch allegiances from Belgium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ghana Football Association had <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/barcelona-wonderkid-at-the-centre-of-national-team-tug-of-war\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">been working for months<\/a> and was even considering a direct route to the senior national team.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundodeportivo.com\/futbol\/fc-barcelona\/20260821\/1004218251\/bisiwu-elige-seleccion.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Mundo Deportivo<\/a>, Ghana\u2019s approach has not produced the outcome they wanted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bisiwu\u2019s father has reportedly rejected the proposal, with the youngster set to continue his international journey with Belgium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For now, the Barcelona prospect appears focused on following the pathway he has already built over several years.<\/p>\n<p>Ghana moved early in bid to win Jesse Bisiwu<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bisiwu has already established a strong connection with Belgian football.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/HP7XnCRWEAA9k8l-1920x1080-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Jesse Bisiwu, Barcelona player\" class=\"wp-image-209588\"  \/>Jesse Bisiwu has decided to represent Belgium over Ghana. (Picture credit: x\/@FCBarcelona)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The winger has represented Belgium at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level, making a total of 25 appearances across those youth categories.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, his family roots also make him eligible to represent Ghana, which prompted the Ghana Football Association to enter the picture.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The African federation believes Bisiwu has the potential to become an important player for the Black Stars and has been in contact with his representatives for months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than waiting for the youngster to reach the senior stage naturally, Ghana were considering making a major statement by calling him directly into the first team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The long-term objective was to have Bisiwu involved in their plans for the road to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.<\/p>\n<p>Bisiwu\u2019s father rejects Ghana offer\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the aforementioned outlet, though, Ghana\u2019s efforts have now suffered a setback.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-9-1024x640.png\" alt=\"Jesse Bisiwu and Joan Laporta of FC Barcelona\" class=\"wp-image-207870\"  \/>Jesse Bisiwu\u2019s development at Barcelona will be closely followed.
