{"id":34578,"date":"2026-08-26T14:01:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T14:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/34578\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T14:01:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T14:01:14","slug":"a-new-european-sleeper-train-will-connect-4-iconic-cities-by-2028","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/34578\/","title":{"rendered":"A new European sleeper train will connect 4 iconic cities by 2028"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SEI_309540376-5a84.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-29465865\" alt=\"Colourful houses and boats on the water along the waterfront in Copenhagen\" decoding=\"sync\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tCopenhagen has become one of the most popular weekend trips in Europe (Picture: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While Brits\u2019 love for <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/07\/08\/venice-spain-a-true-hidden-gem-canals-20-flights-29085258\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"29085258\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">southern Europe<\/a> may never fade, another region has proved itself to be a worthy rival for UK holidaymakers: Scandinavia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And now, <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/06\/29\/one-europes-longest-direct-train-journeys-just-rolled-9-tickets-28923788\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">railway operator<\/a>, <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/04\/01\/affordable-new-sleeper-train-links-3-european-cities-prices-just-18-27800714\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">European Sleeper<\/a>, is making it all the more easier to get around.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The train company has announced plans for its first night train route to Scandinavia in spring 2028, connecting <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/brussels\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brussels<\/a> and <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/amsterdam\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amsterdam<\/a> with <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/copenhagen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Copenhagen<\/a>, and <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/malmo\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Malm\u00f6<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other cities, such as London, Paris, Stockholm and Oslo, can be reached with one additional change along the route.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The move, in partnership with <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/germany\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">German<\/a> railway operator RDC, is part of an expansion to a growing network that already connects Belgium and the Netherlands with destinations in Germany and Czechia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">European Sleeper, which was launched in April 2021, currently operates two routes: Brussels to Prague, and Paris to Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SEI_309540372-d8d6.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-29465864\" alt=\"The first European Sleeper night train from Paris to Berlin is pictured after its arrival in Berlin, on March 27, 2026. Small groups stand talking near the entrance, while others cross the square or wait along the edges of the forecourt.\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tEuropean Sleeper\u2019s first service took off in May 2023 (Picture: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The service is also expected to offer the usual night train accommodation found on other European Sleeper train, including seats, couchettes and sleeper compartments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to reports, the company is also considering deluxe options, including double beds and private en-suite bathrooms.<\/p>\n<p>How much will it cost?<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prices have not been released for the new route.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, a one-way ticket on the European Sleeper night train from Paris to Berlin typically starts at \u00a368 per person in a shared compartment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a \u2018comfort compartment\u2019, fares tend to start from around \u00a3100.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Specific prices for the new Scandinavian route will likely go live closer to the launch date.<\/p>\n<p>The rise of the \u2018coolcation\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Much more than just the home of ABBA and the <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/northern-lights\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Northern Lights<\/a>, Scandinavia has become increasingly appealing in recent years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 2024 report found that searches for travel and holidays in Sweden among UK users increased by 24% compared with 2023. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly, both Norway and Denmark have reported increased international interest.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"430\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SEI_309543383-a2e9.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-29466567\" alt=\"Aerial view of a large green park in the middle of a big city.
