“There are only short intervals when a pause lasts… Russia is now actively pressuring Belarus to join the war against us on its own,” Demchenko said.
He added that the regime of Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko recently accused Ukraine of drone attacks, but the opposite is happening.
“The majority of drones that Russia launches for massive attacks on Ukraine enter Belarusian territory and travel through its territory to subsequently enter Ukraine via the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions. Over the past few weeks, an increase in this tactic has been recorded,” the Border Guard Service spokesman noted.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated that Russia is trying to further drag Belarus into the war and is considering operational plans for directions south and north of Belarusian territory.
This could be an attack on Ukraine or one of the NATO countries. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, for his part, noted that the threat from Belarus is real.
Russia has recently increased its production of drones – in 2026, Moscow plans to produce 7.3 million first-person view (FPV) drones.
Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War reported that there are still no signs that Belarusian troops might begin a ground invasion of Ukraine.
