{"id":1344,"date":"2026-06-16T05:06:30","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T05:06:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/belarus\/1344\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T05:06:30","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T05:06:30","slug":"lukashenko-warns-belarus-entry-could-pit-nato-at-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/belarus\/1344\/","title":{"rendered":"Lukashenko Warns Belarus Entry Could Pit NATO at War"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lukashenko says Belarus joining the Ukraine conflict could turn it into a Belarus-Russia war against NATO and argues talks are needed.<\/p>\n<p>Belarus entering the conflict in Ukraine would sharply change the nature of the fighting, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/english.alarabiya.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Al Arabiya<\/a>, warning that such a step would effectively turn the confrontation into a war involving Belarus and Russia against NATO.<\/p>\n<p>According to Lukashenko, if Minsk became directly involved, NATO countries supporting Kyiv could send their own forces into Ukraine. He said that scenario would give the war a different scale and quality.<\/p>\n<p>The Belarusian leader also argued that the conflict could end as\u00a0early as\u00a02026, provided there is\u00a0political will from a\u00a0small number of\u00a0key figures.<\/p>\n<p>At\u00a0the same time, Lukashenko said he\u00a0does not believe there is\u00a0a\u00a0military solution to\u00a0the crisis in\u00a0Ukraine. In\u00a0his view, a\u00a0way out requires negotiations involving himself, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky. He\u00a0noted that he\u00a0had already proposed such a\u00a0format and still considers it\u00a0relevant.<\/p>\n<p>Lukashenko also commented on\u00a0the situation at\u00a0the front.
