MOSCOW, June 22 (Reuters) – The Kremlin on Monday accused Ukraine of threatening the sovereignty of \u200cclose Russian ally Belarus after Kyiv gave \u200cMinsk a week to remove signal relay stations it said \u200bwere being used to help guide Russian attacks.<\/p>\n
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Friday that a week should be enough for Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko \u200cto remove the equipment, \u2060which he said was being used by Russia in its attacks on Ukraine, \u2060adding a threat of Ukrainian action if Lukashenko did not do so.<\/p>\n
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russian \u200bPresident \u200bVladimir Putin and Belarusian \u200bPresident Alexander Lukashenko were \u200cexpected to discuss Zelenskiy’s remarks “in the foreseeable future”.<\/p>\n
“As for the threat itself, of course, it is utterly aggressive: interference in the internal affairs of another country and an encroachment on another country\u2019s sovereignty,” \u200cPeskov told reporters.<\/p>\n
“But we have \u200bno doubt whatsoever that the \u200bBelarusian leadership, and \u200bBelarus itself, are capable of safeguarding \u200ctheir sovereignty.\u201d<\/p>\n
Russian forces used Belarusian \u200bterritory to enter \u200bUkraine in February 2022, but Minsk – which hosts Russian tactical nuclear weapons – has not committed \u200bits own \u200ctroops and has said it has no plans \u200bto join the war.<\/p>\n
