MINSK: The National Museum of Oman has opened the exhibition \u2018The Splendour of Silver: Collections from the Omani Courts\u2019 at the Vitebsk Museum of Local Traditions in Belarus, showcasing the rich heritage of Omani silver craftsmanship and royal collections.<\/p>\n
The exhibition, which runs until August 16, follows the success of its earlier showcase at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Minsk in December 2025. It was inaugurated under the auspices of Belarusian Minister of Culture Marat Sergeevich Markov and coincides with the 35th edition of the Slavianski Bazaar International Arts Festival in Vitebsk.<\/p>\n
The exhibition highlights a curated collection of silver artefacts associated with the Sultans of Oman in Muscat and Zanzibar, reflecting the artistic excellence of Omani craftsmen and the cultural significance of silver in Omani society.<\/p>\n

Featuring five sections \u2014 the Omani dagger, perfume culture, silver craftsmanship, traditional costumes and elite fashion \u2014 the exhibition explores how silver has been woven into Oman\u2019s identity, from royal traditions and ceremonial objects to everyday life.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Jamal bin Hassan al Mousawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum, said Oman\u2019s participation in the international cultural event marks an important milestone in strengthening cultural cooperation and people-to-people ties with Belarus.<\/p>\n
He noted that the exhibition is the result of continued collaboration between Oman and Belarus following the signing of memoranda of understanding in heritage and culture in 2018, paving the way for joint museum, research and educational initiatives.<\/p>\n
The exhibition offers visitors insight into Oman\u2019s cultural depth through silver jewellery, traditional attire, weapons and artefacts that represent the craftsmanship, identity and history of the Sultanate of Oman.<\/p>\n
The Vitebsk Museum of Local Traditions, one of Belarus\u2019 oldest cultural institutions, serves as a major repository of the region\u2019s history and heritage, housing collections spanning fine arts, military history and archaeology. \u2013 ONA<\/p>\n
