Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, after briefing self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko, said the military and political situation around the country remains stable, with the main tensions existing in the information space.<\/p>\n
According to him, Minsk sees no signs of preparations for a possible attack.<\/p>\n
“Monitoring the activities of NATO armed forces, we do not see any significant activity. Neighboring countries are conducting a minimal number of exercises \u2014 just one \u2014 and flight activity is also at a minimum. That is why we consider the situation around Belarus to be stable, and we do not see any threat, tension, or preparations for a surprise attack,” Khrenin said.<\/p>\n
He also commented on the situation along the border with Ukraine. According to the minister, Belarus has not observed any signs that Ukrainian forces are preparing aggressive actions.<\/p>\n
“At present, we do not see any indications that the Ukrainian units responsible for securing their border are preparing for any aggressive or active operations,” he added.<\/p>\n
At the same time, Khrenin stressed that Belarus is not easing its security measures. He said a “minimum contingent” of special operations forces remains deployed along the southern border, where they work alongside border guards to secure the frontier area.<\/p>\n
The minister also said that troop training continues as planned, taking into account lessons learned from a comprehensive inspection conducted earlier this year.<\/p>\n
