There are long delays on part of the motorway network in Kent due to a lorry fire.

Traffic cameras show fire engines at the scene fighting flames from the green HGV.
At its height there were four crews at the scene.
A large pile of debris also appears to have been left in the fire’s aftermath.
The route remains closed, but trapped traffic is being released past the scene.

The fire broke out just after 4pm but due to its severity the road was shut at 5.15pm.
A spokesperson said on X: “Traffic has stopped on the M25 in Kent anti-clockwise between J6 and J5 due to an HGV fire.
“Fire crews are on scene dealing with the fire.
“There are delays of more than 60 minutes on the approach, with six miles of congestion.
“There is no estimated time of when the carriageway will reopen.”

Surrounding routes including the diversion through Westerham are heavily congested.
A fire service spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service is currently responding to a lorry fire on the M25 anti-clockwise, between junctions 5 and 6, near Clacket Lane Services.
“At the height of the fire, four fire engines and a bulk water carrier attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus have been working to unload the contents of the lorry and extinguish the fire using main jets.
“The incident is now being scaled down to one fire engine and a bulk water carrier.
“No injuries have been reported.”
