Six people have been arrested following the disappearance of two girls from Rugby.

The two missing girls, aged 11 and 12, were found in Cornwall yesterday (August 11) having gone missing from Rugby on Saturday night.

Warwickshire Police force has confirmed that in the early hours of this morning (August 12) detectives arrested two men, aged 62 and 25 and one woman, aged 56, from Tintagel, Cornwall, on suspicion of abduction.

A Falmouth man, aged 42, was also arrested on suspicion of abduction.

Later on this morning, two women, aged 75 and 47, from Rugby were arrested suspicion of abduction.

They all in custody where they are due to be questioned today.

The force has said that all six are known to the two girls.

In a statement, Chief Superintendent Jon Belcher said: “After extensive investigations, our colleagues at Devon and Cornwall Police who were acting on our behalf found the girls safe and well yesterday.

“We have been investigating how these girls came to be in Cornwall, and we have progressed our enquiries today with these six arrests.

“The people who are currently in custody are all known to the girls so there was and is no wider threat to the community.

“Over the coming days, officers will be out and about in the community and in areas of interest, speaking to the community and conducting house-to-house enquiries.

“If you have any concerns, please talk with them.”
