BAE Systems and Turkey’s TUALCOM have signed a strategic agreement to jointly develop technologies for future autonomous defense platforms.
The collaboration will integrate advanced communications, resilient navigation, and electronic warfare technologies into autonomous systems built for contested and degraded environments.
It will also establish a framework to rapidly identify and evaluate these technologies for programs across the UK, Turkey, and international markets.
“Future autonomous capability will depend not only on advanced aircraft, but on the resilience of the systems that enable them to sense, communicate and make decisions in increasingly contested environments,” BAE Systems managing director Dave Holmes said.
Work will be carried out through FalconWorks, BAE Systems’ advanced research and technology division.
Collaborations Advance Autonomous Technologies
The BAE-TUALCOM partnership is the latest in a series of collaborations aimed at strengthening autonomous military capabilities.
In July, Honeywell Aerospace and Shield AI develop a trusted autonomy software stack by combining Honeywell’s avionics, navigation, and sensing technologies with Shield AI’s Hivemind software.
In June, Shield AI partnered with Greece’s EFA GROUP to integrate Hivemind into unmanned systems for AI-assisted decision-making under operator control.
In May, Kodiak AI and General Dynamics Land Systems launched a collaboration to develop autonomous military vehicles using the Kodiak Driver virtual driving system.
