Thousands of outage reports have flooded in this morning

Customers of Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland are reporting problems accessing online banking and mobile apps.
Downdetector showed around 2,450 reports for Lloyds, more than 1,000 for Halifax and over 340 for Bank of Scotland shortly before midday on Tuesday (18 August). Users have also taken to X to complain about the disruption, with some saying they are unable to use services online.
Halifax was the first bank to confirm the reports, assuring customers they are “working hard to fix it”, the Mirror reports.

Several users have shared error messages from their devices on social media, with some people told that they have been logged out of their accounts.
One Bank of Scotland customer said they were unable to access either the app or website for several hours. A Lloyds user complained that the disruption had prevented them from booking a flight online.

Reports of problems with Halifax started to drop after noon. Downdetector showed 701 reports at 12.22pm, down from more than 1,000 less than an hour prior.

A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group told the MEN that the issue was resolved shortly after 1pm.
