Police swooped on a street in Moss Side this afternoon to arrest a robbery suspect – but GMP say the suspect became unwell and was taken to hospital.
The drama happened on Bowes Street at about 1.30pm which ended up being cordoned off by police. Tonight Bowes Street remains cordoned off as an investigation into the incident continues.
It is understood the suspect was taken to hospital where he is said to be in a stable condition.

Residents have told the Manchester Evening News that police were chasing a man on a bike. A long section of Bowes Street remains off limits to the police. Behind the cordon could be seen medical equipment where paramedics appear to have been working on the suspect.

Police officers remained stationed at either end of the police cordon tonight.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police told the Manchester Evening News: “At around 1:30pm today (18 August), officers detained a man who was wanted on suspicion of robbery on Bowes Street, Moss Side.
“During the incident, the man became unwell and was taken to hospital where he remains receiving treatment.
“There is a scene in place and enquiries are ongoing.”
