A man who was fatally shot in Newham has been named and pictured as police continue to investigate his killing. Masum Miah was shot in St Bartholomew’s Road, E6, at around 3am on Tuesday, August 18. Police have released his name as they appeal for information about the fatal shooting.

Shots were fired at a white motor vehicle at the location before suspects made off. Police are asking anyone who may have information about the incident, or who captured relevant footage on CCTV, a doorbell camera or dashcam, to come forward.

A murder investigation was launched after officers were called to reports that a man had been shot inside a vehicle. Despite the efforts of police and medical staff, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Miah’s family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Dan Whitten, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with Masum’s family as they come to terms with his tragic death.

“We are continuing to appeal to anyone with information that could assist out enquires to come forward.

“If you were in the area at the time of the shooting, witnessed anything suspicious or have any dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage that could support our investigation, we urge you to get in touch. No matter how big or small the information you have is, it could prove vital in helping us piece together the full circumstances.”
