The devastated daughter of a man who died in hospital days after going missing has paid tribute to him. Colin Toseland went missing from Llandudno Community Hospital last Thursday [August 13].
His family launched a frantic search for him, urging people locally to keep an eye out for the much-loved grandad. Colin’s daughter Rachel Cooper said the family found CCTV of Colin having visited a nearby shop, before leaving towards the direction of the hospital.
Police issued an appeal to the public for help in the search on the Saturday, before the search was intensified the following day, with mountain rescue crews and a police drone team brought in to assist.
On the evening of Tuesday, August 18, Colin was found near to the hospital site and was rushed to hospital “suffering from severe hypothermia”.

Tragically, the former nurse passed away on Wednesday, August 19.
In a post on Facebook, Rachel said: “We are heartbroken to share that our dad has sadly passed away at 12:30pm today. After spending far too long stuck outside in the cold. Dad suffered severe hypothermia.
“His body had simply been through too much and despite everything the doctors did, his organs had already begun to shut down when he was found. He fought as hard as he could right until the very end.” Join the North Wales Live Whatsapp community now
She added: “I’m so grateful we had the chance to be there with him from when he was found right through to the end, and that he wasn’t alone.

“I really don’t know what I’d have done without Wayne (Cooper) in his final moments.
“This last week has been a living nightmare for us all and absolutely far worse for him now knowing bits of what he’s been through.
“Obviously we have no idea about funeral arrangements yet but once I do I will let people who wish to attend know xx Rest peacefully, Dad I love you, and I’ll miss you more than words can ever say.”
The tragic news has led to a flood of messages of support for the family. One said: “This is so sad, absolutely tragic.”
Another added: “I’m so sorry to hear the news Rachel, my thoughts go out to you all xxx.”
While another, referencing Colin’s passionate support for Leeds United, said: “I’ve talked to him a number of times, both by phone and messenger. He loved his family and adored his grandkids.
