A man in his 20s is fighting for his life after being found unconscious in the street. Police on patrol found the man on High Road, in Leyton, at 8.13am this morning (Saturday, August 22).
An air ambulance was reported as landing shortly afterwards at the nearby Leyton County Cricket Ground. Paramedics treated the man and he was taken to hospital where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
A man, 26, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) and is currently in custody.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “At 8.13am on Saturday, August 22, officers on patrol in High Road, Leyton, found a man aged in his 20s unconscious in the street.
“The man was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance before being taken to hospital, where his condition was assessed as life-threatening.
“A 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact police by calling 101 stating CAD1742/22Aug.”
The London Ambulance Service (LAS) was contacted for comment.
