ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tornado warning for Livingston County. The warning is until 8:30 p.m.
Previous NWS reports said there were tornado warnings in Monroe, Genesee, Orleans, Steuben, and Livingston counties. A tornado watch remains in effect until 11 p.m. for central and Western New York, according to the NWS.
According to the weather service, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Batavia, moving east at 40 mph. The thunderstorm warning is expected to last until 9:15 p.m., NWS says.

Kendall in Orleans County is cleaning up after severe thunderstorms on Wednesday morning toppled trees and left debris on roads.

Orleans County sees heavy 911 call volume
During Wednesday mornings storms, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office says dispatchers handled a total of 159 phone calls, with an average of 53 calls per hour, or about one call every 68 seconds.
The Sheriff’s Office says during that same three-hour period, the communications center documented 57 dispatched incidents involving law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services. The office says many of them were weather-related, with 42 of them involving either downed trees or electrical/power hazards.
Power outages to the west
Around 1,800 homes or businesses in Orleans County and over 800 in Genesee County were without power after the morning’s storms, according to National Grid’s power outage tracker. At its peak, there were over 2,000 outages in Orleans County and over 3,000 in Genesee County. Wednesday’s storms could bring damaging winds and hail. If you see downed wires, stay at least 30 feet away and assume any lines are live. To report a downed power line or other hazard, RG&E customers can call 1-800-743-1701 and NYSEG customers can call 1-800-572-1131.
