Residents are reminded to be vigilant after scammers were reported to be “pressuring victims into paying for unnecessary and poor quality” works in their homes.
The warning comes from Kent County Council’s Trading Standards team who said doorstep criminals have been active over the last week across Kent in Maidstone, Folkestone, Canterbury, Herne Bay, Deal, Margate, Dover, Dartford, Sittingbourne, Tonbridge and New Romney.

The cold callers were said to be offering unnecessary driveway, roofing or guttering work.
A spokesperson said: “Please be alert and warn your vulnerable friends and family to never respond to cold callers as you will pay a high cost for unnecessary and poor quality work.”
