An eyewitness who said she was at the scene around 5.40pm described seeing a young man leave the barbershop and approach officers who were already in the area.

She said: “Police were already on the road dealing with another incident when a young man ran out of the barbers and notified the police.

“One of them grabbed a first aid kit out of the trunk.”

The witness suggested the incident might have involved a knife, though this has not been confirmed by police.

Online speculation quickly spread, with some claiming a fatal incident had taken place.

However, it is understood this incident was not fatal.
