Spring has officially sprung, and across the capital city – if you listen carefully enough – you might just hear the sweet sound of glasses clinking as Londoners emerge from their winter hibernation, ready for some springtime socialising. However, with the sheer cost of, quite literally, everything in London, it’s tricky to know where to head for a round of cocktails with your pals that won’t set you back the cost of a small mortgage. But it seems as though our penny-pinching prayers have been answered in the form of this very handy map of London.

The map in question comes courtesy of Andrew Myers, who – out of frustration for how flippin’ expensive it’s become to go out for a drink in London. – created the HappyPlaces app. With the cost of a pint soaring to new heights, he decided to have a rather thorough rummage through the capital’s happy hours and drinking deals, and collate them all into one handy, interactive map.

The HappyPlaces app

The app features a live map that pinpoints all of the active happy hours and drink deals happening in London’s bars and pubs. Users can instantly see all of the happy hours nearby in real time, and they can also ‘fast-forward’ the map, and use the time slider to see the deals and events that are happening later in the day. Pretty revolutionary, right?

The map was unveiled last year, but it’s recently undergone a bit of a glow-up. A whole host of new deals have been added, and you can now filter by specific drink or venue type, save your favourite spots, and exclude chain venues.

With plans to onboard a plethora of new venues and even expand in to food deals and bottomless brunches soon, the HappyPlaces app is well-and-truly levelling up London’s social scene. And I, for one, will most certainly drink to that.
