Anastasiia and Salsa and Matty Juniosa have become the first acts to reach the Britian’s Got Talent final after winning tonight’s semi-final.

Described as “such a beautiful, wholesome performance” by judge KSI, and “endearing” by Alesha Dixon, Anastasiia and her dog Salsa impressed the panel and the viewers at home with their act that saw them perform an emotional routine to ‘Stargazing’ by Myles Smith.

They faced stiff competition from fellow semi-finalists Anastasiia and her dancing dog Salsa, dance group Celtic Beat, comedian and rapper Christy Coysh, magician Fraser Penman, singer Matty Juniosa, drummer Nancy Tilley, aerial performer Paul Nunnari and acrobatic quartet The Rafikiz.

Christy Coysh was buzzed by Simon Cowell during his pork pie-inspired rap, which ended with KSI being forced to take a bite of a scotch egg. KSI, who disliked Coysh’s act in the initial round, also buzzed him after the song, saying he “hated” it. Simon called the song “an all-time low” for the talent competition, but Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon both gave positive feedback.

Ultimately, he came second to Anastasiia and Salsa in the heat, saying “Scotch eggs are great, but not as good as dogs.”

While the acts going through to the final will be decided by public vote, hosts Ant and Dec and the judges still have some power with a special “live Golden Buzzer”, which will allow them to send an act straight to the final. Amanda Holden had control of tonight’s Golden Buzzer and chose singer Matty Juniosa, who also received the Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell in the initial rounds.

The remaining semi-finals will take place over the next five weeks on weekends, following last year’s change to airing on Saturdays, rather than airing on weeknights over a shorter period of time. However, Saturday 16 May’s semi-final will instead take place on Sunday 17 May, due to a clash with Eurovision.

Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals continue on Saturday 2 May at 7pm on ITV.
