A six-year-old child has died after being hit by a car in Paisley. Emergency services were called to Johnston Street in the town after the horrifying incident happened at around 5.30pm on Saturday, April 25.
Officers were responding to reports of two children being struck by a car. Ambulance crews attended and a six-year old girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
A seven-year-old girl was also rushed to hospital for treatment. Her condition currently remains unknown.
The road was cordoned off while police launched an investigation at the scene. Detectives are now appealing for information.
Sergeant Jack Swindells said: “Around 5.30pm on Saturday, April 25, 2026, police received a report of two children being struck by a car on Johnston Street, Paisley.
“Emergency services attended and a 6-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. A 7-year-old girl was taken to hospital for treatment.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and our thoughts are with the family of the girl who died. They ask that their privacy is respected at this time.
“We would ask anyone who witnessed the incident to please call police on 101, quoting reference 2786 of April 25.”
