Emmet Potter becomes the fifth person to die on NI roads in just 24 hours

Police have named a man who died in a single vehicle collision in Co Tyrone on Saturday.

Emmet Potter, from Carrickmore, died following the collision involving a van in the Derrycourtney Road area of Caledon on Saturday, April 25. The emergency services attended the incident, but sadly Emmet was pronounced dead at the scene.

One person has been arrested in connection with the collision and remains in police custody at this time.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “The Police Service of Northern Ireland can confirm the man who died following a single-vehicle collision in the Derrycourtney Road area of Caledon on Saturday evening, 25th April was Emmet Potter.

“One person arrested in connection with the investigation remains in police custody at this time as enquiries continue.

“Officers would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1706 25/04/26.”

Mr Potter becomes the fifth person to die on Northern Ireland roads in just a 24-hour period at the weekend.

A 16-year-old, named locally as Callum Hutchinson from Co Tipperary, is the youngest victim from the weekend following a collision on Sunday on the Belfast Road at Nutts Corner.

Two other people also died following a collision between a motorcycle and a car on the Glenavy Road on Saturday evening.

Patrick Deery from the Dungannon area, died following a collision involving a motorcycle in the Omagh area at around 11am on Sunday, April 26.
