Britain’s King Charles III and Queen Camilla participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia to honor unidentified American service members who died in combat.

The last visit to the Tomb by a member of the English royal family was Prince Harry, who visited on May 10, 2013. The Prince laid a wreath at the Tomb and also visited Section 60, where U.S. service members who died in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are buried.

The British royal couple arrived in Washington on Monday for a four-day state visit celebrating the country’s 250th anniversary. This is their first visit to the U.S. since becoming monarchs, which is part of a diplomatic effort to reinforce the relationship between the U.S. and England.
