Just a week after they were at the helm of the live I’m A Celebrity final that descended into chaos, Ant and Dec stepped in to calm things down just minutes into the latest episode of Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday night. And their intervention came as the judges were loudly booed by the crowd over their comments to the show’s opening act.

Millions of viewers were left both open mouthed and on the edges of their seat last Friday night when things kicked off big time in the All Stars finale, with tempers flaring between several campmates, including Jimmy Bullard, Sinitta and David Haye and Ant and Dec themselves as the subject turned to Jimmy’s eventful exit from the new series involving a trial with eventual winner Adam Thomas. The Geordie presenters addressed the controversy of the night before when they fronted the first BGT semi from London just 24 hours later and, after two acts made it through last weekend, Ant and Dec were once again front and centre as another group of acts took to the stage at the Hammersmith Apollo, determined it earn a place in the final.

The first to step into the spotlight on Saturday were World Wings, with the dance troupe performing an upbeat routine to songs like Rescue Me, Dare Me and Move Your Feet. Sadly, unlike with their original audition, the judges weren’t too impressed with what they saw, with Amanda Holden saying, that for all that was going on on stage, she didn’t think it was a good as the first time she saw them.

Also not a huge fan of the performance, Alesha Dixon said, for her, it was all a bit ‘too happy,’ adding: ‘I would have liked something a bit more down and dirty, a bit more grimey that matches your dance capabilities.” As the audience started to boo, Alesha tried to offer a positive, telling World Wings: “I do love you and I think you’re amazing.”

After asking Alesha to clarify her comments about the dancers being ‘too happy,’ it looked liked Simon Cowell would be more on World Wings’ side, only for him to then criticize them, as he remarked: “I felt you are capable of doing something that created a moment. The whole thing for me did that…” as he then gestured a flat line with his hand and then added: “I don’t think this was as good as the first time we saw you.”

Before Simon could finish, the boos inside the room started to get even louder, with Ant and Dec than attempting to restore some order to proceedings early doors by then speaking to World Wings, as they stood next to them on stage.
