YouGov has predicted in Birmingham, Sandwell, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Solihull and Dudley

New polling has Reform UK gaining the most votes in every 2026 local election.
Despite this, the latest YouGov polling may actually be a relief to the Labour party.
As BirminghamLive has previously reported, Labour has been predicted to be wiped out in historically safe Birmingham City Council, but YouGov’s latest polling suggests it will be level pegging with Reform UK in the city, on 21 per cent.

However, in every other West Midlands local election, Reform are predicted to land the most votes.
That ranges from Labour heartlands like Sandwell, where Reform is predicted to land 28% of the vote, to Solihull, which has recently been Conservative-dominated, where it is projected to get 31%.
The polling, however, is not really good news for Labour.
The party has held power in Birmingham for years and previously had all 72 councillors on Sandwell Council – so seeing that eroded to this extent is historic.
If YouGov’s polling were to come true, both Birmingham and Sandwell would be no-overall-control – but big wins for Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.
Elsewhere, YouGov is predicting big wins for the Greens – polling 19% in Birmingham and between 14% and 21% elsewhere.
