Voters in Birmingham in the West Midlands have had their say in the 2026 local elections.
All 101 of the seats were up for grabs on Birmingham City Council, with one or two councillors elected in each ward. There are 37 single-member and 32 two-member wards.
One seat was up for election in the wards of Allens Cross, Balsall Heath West, Birchfield, Bordesley & Highgate, Bordesley Green, Castle Vale, Druids Heath & Monyhull, Frankley Great Park, Garretts Green, Gravelly Hill, Handsworth, Heartlands, Hall Green South, Highter’s Heath, Holyhead, King’s Norton North, King’s Norton South, Lozells, Nechells, Newtown, Northfield, Perry Common, Pype Hayes, Rubery & Rednal, Sutton Four Oaks, Shard End, Sutton Mere Green, South Yardley, Sutton Reddicap, Sutton Roughley, Stirchley, Sutton Trinity, Sutton Wylde Green, Tyseley & Hay Mills, Ward End and Yardley East.

Two seats were up for grabs in the wards of Acocks Green, Alum Rock, Aston, Bartley Green, Bromford & Hodge Hill, Billesley, Brandwood & King’s Heath, Bournville & Cotteridge, Bournbrook & Selly Park, Edgbaston, Erdington, Glebe Farm & Tile Cross, Harborne, Handsworth Wood, Hall Green North, Kingstanding, Ladywood, Longbridge & West Heath, Moseley, North Edgbaston, Oscott, Perry Barr, Quinton, Sparkbrook & Balsall Heath East, Sheldon, Soho & Jewellery Quarter, Small Heath, Sparkhill, Stockland Green, Sutton Vesey, Sutton Walmley & Minworth and Weoley & Selly Oak.
Elections in Birmingham take place every four years, with all of the councillors elected each time.
Birmingham City Council is a metropolitan borough council responsible for services like rubbish collection, recycling, Council Tax collections, housing and planning applications.
Ahead of the election, the council was run by the Labour Party with 49 seats.
Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 7, with the count taking place on Friday. Results for Birmingham local elections are due from 6pm on Friday, May 8.
In total, more than 5,000 council seats were up for grabs across 136 local authorities in England on election day. Mayoral elections also took place in six areas.
