King Charles has made a poignant outing to meet with fellow cancer patients at Guy’s Hospital in London.

The King, who announced in December that his own cancer treatment was going well enough to be ‘reduced’, marked the Hospital’s 300th anniversary with a visit to the Cancer Centre, where he met with chemotherapy patients and medical staff.

Upon arrival at the hospital’s Innovation Hub, His Majesty, who serves as Patron of King’s College London, heard about how staff and researchers are using AI and robotics to treat patients. He watched a demonstration of a robotically assisted surgical system before visiting the ‘Chemotherapy Village’, where he met with fellow patients.

King Charles was first diagnosed with cancer in February 2024 and has been more honest about his health battle than any monarch in history. In December, he released a video opening up about his diagnosis in honour of Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign, admitting that he found his cancer journey ‘overwhelming’ at times.

In the pre-recorded message, the King revealed his own treatment would be scaled back in 2026. ‘I am able to share with you the good news that thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to “doctors’ orders”, my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the New Year,’ His Majesty said in the televised message.
