The future of Kate Garraway’s ITV series is said to be in doubt. Life Stories – which she inherited from Piers Morgan – is reported to be facing an uncertain future after 17 years.

Piers Morgan presented the interview programme from 2009 until 2021, hosting 103 episodes. In October 2021, it was announced that he was standing down and would be succeeded by Kate Garraway, his final guest.

Since assuming the role, Good Morning Britain host Kate presented three episodes in 2022, a further three in 2023, and only one in 2025. With merely one episode broadcast in the last three years, speculation has now emerged that the programme could be facing cancellation.

A source told The Sun: “When Piers was fronting Life Stories it was on our screens constantly for 12 years – often with two series a year.

“But the last time we saw Kate fronting a whole series was in 2023, and ITV haven’t given any indication when, if ever, the show will return,” reports the Mirror.

“Kate has been busy maintaining her day job, as well as making several award-winning documentaries and, of course, she appeared on the BBC ‘s The Celebrity Traitors last year.”

WalesOnline has approached ITV for comment.

The Mirror reported that ITV has insisted that the programme has not been cancelled, and Kate will produce additional episodes “if the guest was right”. It was also suggested that perhaps guests now favour appearing on podcasts rather than in television interviews.

Piers currently presents his own video podcast, Piers Morgan: Uncensored, which has featured interviews with stars including Freddie Flintoff and Sharon Osbourne, who both previously appeared on his Life Stories programme.

During Piers’ tenure hosting the programme, he conducted interviews with notable figures including Richard Branson, Katie Price, Geri Halliwell, Elton John, Roger Moore, and Burt Reynolds.

In 2019, during an interview with Mel B, the former Spice Girl revealed she once had a sexual relationship with Geri Halliwell.

During the programme she revealed: “She is going to hate me for this because she is all posh in her country house and her husband but it’s a fact,” she said, “It just happened and we just giggled at it and that was it. We were best friends. Have you ever done that?”

Further memorable moments from the programme included Michael Parkinson breaking down in tears while discussing his father’s death, Cheryl discussing her divorce from Ashley Cole, and Caitlyn Jenner speaking candidly about her gender transition.

Kate’s version of Life Stories has seen her sit down with seven guests; John Barnes, Nadiya Hussain, Charlotte Church, Anton Du Beke, Ruby Wax, Omid Djalili, and Jeremy Kyle.
