A woman in her 80s was fatally stabbed outside her home in Plumstead. Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder. Officers arrived alongside London Ambulance Service paramedics to find the elderly woman with serious stab wounds. A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: ???We were called at 8.53am today (1 April) to reports of a stabbing on Red Lion Place, Greenwich. We sent ambulance crews, a tactical response paramedic, an incident response officer, and dispatched London???s Air Ambulance. The woman was treated at the scene and rushed to a major trauma centre as a priority.??? Arrest and Investigation Underway Another man was threatened with a knife but escaped unharmed. Shortly after 9:10am, a man in his 60s turned himself in at a nearby police station and was arrested on suspicion of murder. He is now in the hospital receiving treatment for injuries described as non-life-threatening. Police believe the suspect and victim knew each other, and no further suspects are being sought. The woman???s family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers. Tributes have been paid to an elderly woman stabbed to death on her front doorstep.

A knifeman then ran around the residential street in Plumstead and threatened workmen nearby at around 9am on Wednesday.

Met police officers went to Red Lion Place and found the pensioner, named locally as Doris, in her 80s, with fatal knife injuries.

Minutes later the suspect, in his 60s, turned himself in at a nearby police station and he was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He was taken to hospital by officers, where he is receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

At this stage, police believe the suspect and victim were known to each other.
