A man has been charged with attempted murder after police descended on a street in Tuebrook. Officers were called to a house on Snaefell Avenue just before 7.20am yesterday (Sunday, May 17) where it was reported a woman in her 30s had been hit on the head.
The North West Ambulance Service attended and the woman was taken to hospital with serious head injuries, where her condition is described as critical but stable. Louden Chagona, 50, of Snaefell Avenue in Tuebrook, has been charged with attempted murder.
He has been remanded into custody to appear at Merseyside Domestic Violence Remand Court today (Monday, May 18). A police cordon is still in place this morning around two houses on Snaefell Avenue, with an officer stationed outside.
Detective Chief Inspector Lynsay Armbruster said: “We simply will not tolerate domestic abuse of any kind, and our officers and partners carry out activity every day of the year to bring perpetrators to justice and ensure victim-survivors receive the support they need.
“Domestic abuse comes in many forms.
“As well as physical harm, it can include emotional or sexual abuse, control of finances or other controlling behaviour and while the majority of victims are women, it can happen to anyone, regardless of gender and social status.
“I’d urge anyone who may be a victim or knows someone who is to please reach out and contact us.
“Every report will be taken extremely seriously, and we will listen and support you throughout the process.”
