This year’s Britain’s Got Talent series has almost come to an end. After weeks of auditions and semi-finals, audiences have witnessed an array of talented performers, each hoping to impress the four-judge panel and secure their place in the grand final. The champion will walk away with a substantial £250,000 prize and the chance to appear at the Royal Variety Performance.
The fifth and final live semi-final will air this Saturday, May 23, determining which acts progress to the grand final next week. The line-up of performers for this weekend’s show was revealed on the official BGT social media channels on Thursday, May 21.
Taking part in the live broadcast will be daredevil act Baron & Vesper, magician Jake Banfield, young singer James Miller, dancer Juan Carlos, boy band SOS, KSI’s Golden Buzzer act Mr Cherry, drone performers Celestial, and finally Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone Farmers Choir. The musical ensemble of farmers, including 10 from Wales, secured Amanda’s golden buzzer during their audition. Hawkstone Farmers’ Choir, comprising farmers from throughout the UK, progressed directly to the live semi-finals with their performance of One Day Like This by Elbow.
The 32-member group includes Eirion William Davies, a fourth generation farmer from Llanelli; Aled Wyn Davies, who farms in the Cambrian Mountains; Meidrim farm manager Owain Fisher; Pendine farmer Joe Shewry; Hugh Thomas from Moylegrove; Rosie Jones, a former West End performer now farming in Mid Wales; Presteigne farmer Will Rogers; and Aled Griffiths, who has recently been appointed chairman of the 2027 National Eisteddfod.
The choir gave a powerful performance at Birmingham Hippodrome, with their moving rendition prompting a standing ovation from the audience and clearly affecting the judging panel led by Amanda Holden alongside guest judge Stacey Solomon, Alesha Dixon and KSI.
Initially established through a quest for “strong singers who are farmers” as part of an initiative connected to Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone brand, the choir has developed into something far more meaningful.
The ensemble states its purpose is to highlight mental health issues and suicide prevention within an industry frequently characterised by isolation and unrelenting pressure.
Pendine farmer Joe Shewry said: “If we can highlight the mental strain our farmers are under, then it can only be a good thing.”
Shortly after finishing their performance Amanda Holden awarded them the golden buzzer, before saying quite teary: “Do you know, as soon as you started, I completely welled up. I felt so much power. I love the whole community. I love how you’ve all got together and you work your arses off.
“You work so hard every single day. You absolutely smashed it and I can’t wait to see what you’re going to do in the semi-finals. Congratulations.”
This marks the fifth and final live semi final before the grand final airs on Saturday, May 30.
Audiences can anticipate seeing singer Matty Juniosa, who earned Amanda Holden’s golden buzzer, alongside performer Anastasiia and her dog Salsa in the grand final, having triumphed in the first semi-final.
They will be accompanied by second semi-final victors Sadeck Berrabah and LMA, who secured Alesha Dixon’s Golden Buzzer, along with the extraordinary magician Fabian Fox.
Also advancing will be third semi-final victors Liwei Yang, who received KSI’s Golden Buzzer, and comedian Ted Hill, who won the audience vote.
Additionally, they will be joined by last week’s semi-final winners, Sonny Green who won Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer, and magical musician Rafferty Coope, who secured the audience vote.
